PROFESSIONAL MASSAGE AND ITS IMPACT ON PSYCHOPHYSIOLOGICAL CORRELATES
Synopsis
This study measured the effects of massage therapy (MT) on reducing of anxiety and cortisol levels in 38 undergraduate women and 27 men, average age 20.25 years. Randomly assigned to a professional massage group (PMG, 48% of participants) and a control group, participants completed State Trait Anxiety Inventory (Spielberger, 1983), and granted a saliva sample to measure cortisol levels, before and after massage was administered. We were interested in the effects of MT on lowering state anxiety.

theorems were discussed in the course, this paper focuses on the Pythagorean Theorem and its
converse. Students developed methods to help elementary, middle, or high school students
further their understanding and justification of the Pythagorean Theorem and its converse.

According to the National Institute of Deafness and other Communication Disorders (NIDCD, 2010), more than 20 million Americans (all ages) are exposed to hazardous sound (noise) levels on a regular basis, without the use of hearing protection devices (HPD). This study seeks to determine the percentage of farmers and agricultural workers in rural South Carolina who are directly affected by this phenomenon, and those who take proactive measures to protect their hearing from noise exposure.

AN EVENING IN THE PALACE OF REASON WITH BACH AND FRITZ: LIBBY LARSEN AND THE ROYAL THEME

This study explores Libby Larsen’s creative compositional reintroduction of a centuriesold theme, the Royal Theme, in which she draws from the Musical Offering in her Evening in the Palace of Reason (2007). In the composition Larsen does more than simply display her composing ideas on the Royal Theme; many familiar musical characteristics and ideas that have in common certain elements of style from the musical past are also used. The work goes beyond the usual musical style of Larsen; it demonstrates the composer’s individual and unique synthesis of conservative and contemporary musical language. The study shall also examine how Larsen copes with the stylistic changes of the three periods and how she reinterprets these different musical styles in the music.

THE INFLECTION POINT OF LAFFER CURVE
Synopsis
The relationship of the tax revenues to the tax rate is often referred to as the Laffer Curve. In this note we investigate the nature of this relationship, and point out that the standard approach to the curve ignores the possibility that its shape may reveal information about the economy, and the crucial portion of such information is conveyed in the inflection point of the curve. We point out that one should expect the Laffer Curve to have an inflection point. Then we discuss all possible choices of effective tax rates, and their effects on tax revenues and national income.

ARE GUILT AND SHAME MORAL OR MORALIZING EMOTIONS?
Synopsis
Our studies test the impact of two self-directed moral emotions like guilt and shame on responsibility attributions about moral scenarios. We found that both guilt- and shameproneness increased severity of responsibility attributions, except for the behavioral dimension of shame. Moreover, contrary to what other theories predict, our data support a Nietzschean perspective. This article argues that pedagogy designed to assist students in constructing personal sexual philosophies is a crucial element that is absent from the current scheme of Chinese sex education. Building from ideas presented in A Dream of Red Mansions, this article makes a case that Chinese sex education should use teaching methods relying on interactive dialogue about cultural and personal values while continuing to address the health and physical concerns normally associated with sex education.

Synopsis
The evidentiary status of moral intuitions has been a source of substantial debate in contemporary philosophical literature. In this paper, I will address this debate by considering the issue of intuition contamination. I will ask whether there are any viable philosophical methodologies we could potentially use to “clean up” our intuitions, and see if these hypothetical “clean” intuitions provide a solution for worries about reliability. Ultimately, I will argue that we need not abandon our moral intuitions, even if turns out that they are not always “clean”.
