Title
Wannier Functions and 3d Electron Localization of Magnetite

Synopsis
Magnetite (Fe3O4) shows a metal-to-insulator transition at Tv (~123 K) due to the properties of the “extra 3d” (3d*) conduction electrons. Magnetic anomalies observed above Tv suggest that Fe3O4 can be considered a Wigner electron glass. The Wannier states in Fe3O4 indicate a mixture of localized and delocalized electron states.
