The Intelligence Debate: Bilingualism vs. Monolingualism—A Systematic Review
Synopsis
Focusing on Raven’s Matrices to test intelligence (g), the study primarily probes if bilinguals are more intelligent than monolingual individuals. Fifteen studies were analyzed, where four identified that bilinguals have greater intelligence, while eleven highlighted no meaningful disparity between bilinguals and monolinguals. The conclusion suggest that intelligence is generally equal across both groups, and bilinguals are not necessarily more intelligent than monolinguals.
